Swedish Midsummer.

Midsommar!

“In modern Sweden, Midsummer's Eve and Midsummer's Day (Midsommarafton and Midsommardagen) are celebrated from the eve of the Friday between June 19 - 25. It is arguably the most important holiday of the year, and one of the most uniquely Swedish in the way it is celebrated...”

Funny video of a exaggerated celebration!

So today is we were supposed to “celebrate” the Swedish tradition of “Midsommar” but things did not turn out quite as we had planned.

The day started with the phone ringing at 08:00 as it always do and i took my shower, forced down some breakfast and then headed out for school. Today we had a kanji and vocabulary test, the vocabulary test was okay! relatively easy, but the kanji test was a bit harder. I sat for ages trying to figure out some of the kanjis i knew i KNEW but simply wouldn’t pop up in my head. That sucked...

After the tests we were done for the day and we could go home. by this time it was raining cats and dogs outside, perfect. We were quite bummed and our thoughts about sitting down by the river eating the Swedish food we bought were trashed. So we went to the local fast-food place called “Sukia” and ate some fine Japanese cuisine instead. After that we went to me and Kalles place, opened up the Jar of herring, the cheese, took some of the Wasa “crackers” and just talked and ate. Me and the Frenchman took a snus each also, just for the Swedish feeling! Not the perfect way to do it, but hey, it was good!

On some other notes the weather here is closing in to the rain season and and temperature is increasing every week. Soon i will die by collapsing from a heat-stroke, or i will drown in sweat and moist. The combination of rain and extreme warmth is a good for nothing combination i tell you!

Other then that i have “bought” a camera from neighbour Peter, and by “bought” i mean i have not yet given him the money for it. It´s a Canon EOS 350D and i got it /will get it at a very good price so i saw no reason not to. It certainly doesn’t replace my now broke compact camera, but this is a nice piece of machine i can take some more serious pictures during my coming “adventures” and hopefully both me and you guys reading will find it nice with some good quality photos! (good or good... i know nothing about photography at the moment, so the pictures might just look the same. But now i have the tool to advance so to speak!)

I wish all of you Swedes a “Glad midsommar” and for the rest of you (yeah... okay, Swedes included here too) thanks for all the comments. Always appreciated and i really enjoy reading them all!

Over and out!
