Dance day!

Today the class did some traditional Japanese dancing together at a nearby dance school for traditional dancing, we stared the day with some regular studying in the classroom, but at 10:30 we headed out for the dancing place!

When we got there we separated in to two groups, males and females. We each got ourselves a nice dressing room with two nice old ladies helping us put on the ゆかた (Yukata) and all it´s accessories. We all looked darn cool i must say! The beautiful ladies were first up on the stage to dance with the instructors.

Next up were the handsome men.

The dance were built on gestures describing different events during the different seasons of the years (as what i could understand from the instructor with my current ability in Japanese) for example waving the fan (named sensu(せんす)) to describe the sakura leafs falling during the autumn.

The gestures differs between the ladies and the gents, were the females gestures are more feminine and gentle and the males had a more rough approach. The music we danced to was of course some nice traditional music, it was all good! It was a really nice little “field trip” and a nice experience, looking forward to more events like this!

After this we had no more school for de day, so a bunch of us decided to down to the river and have a picnic lunch together.

At the same time a Japanese school class had a photo shoot and we got the opportunity to se the most dedicated school photographer ever! He yelled and made gestures like this was the world to him, i wish we had guys like him during my Swedish school years!

We even managed to the the class’s attention and got some photos of them i love the cool guy in the middle! Hahaha!

After a while the school disappeared, and we continued to relax in the heat, played some childish games together and i even took the first “dip” of the year, it was needy in this crazy warmth.

You can find larger and more pictures in the “Picture” section as usual.

Until next time, enjoy a half naked Frenchman.
